Pookot Lake

Pookot Lake
Situated 3km to the southern part of the town of Vythiri, Pookot Lake is a sight to be seen. One of the most popular tourist spot located in the district of Wayanad, Kerala, Pookot Lake in my opinion is a must-visit fresh water lake. About 13 km from Kalpetta, Pookot Lake is beautifully located among wooded slopes and evergreen forests. Thick bushes and tall trees that surrounds the lake make things even prettier, especially if you are someone like me who just grew tired of the crowded city life and was looking for a change from a long time. Thanks to Kerala Private Tour, things were pretty much smooth for me.
Thanks to my guide, I was able to gather enough information about the place. For instance, I was told that the lake is where ‘Panamaram’ river, which happens to be one of the main tributaries of Kabani river, originates. It from Pookot Lake where this tributary flows and tumble into the Panamaram Valley. Now that we discussed some minor aspects that makes this interesting, let’s talk about a primary attraction that is the fresh-water aquarium filled with excellent array of fishes. That’s not all, you also have recreational facilities such as Boating, Children’s Park and Spice emporium as well.
The experience is extremely rejuvenating, especially if you land here in a pleasant weather. That’s not all, there are other must-visit places nearby such as:
Chembra Peak
Some unique festivals here to watch out for: Sree Thirunelli Devaswom and Valliyoorkkavu
