Over 52 elephants assembled at the famous Thrissur Vadakkumnathan temple for the biggest aanayootu of Kerala . Asthtadravya Mahaganapathi Homam held at Sree Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thrissur, on the first day of Karkkidakam.
Temple Thanthri Puliyannur Sankaranarayanan Namboodiri lead the Maha Ganapathi Homam.
More than 10,000 plus coconuts, 2,000 kilogram of jaggery, 500 kiloram of avil, 250 kilogram of malar, 100 kilogram of sesame seeds, 75 kilogram of honey, sugarcane and citron was used for the homam.
‘Aanayoottu’ and ‘Asthtadravya Mahaganapathi Homam’ ritual, meant to propitiate Lord Ganesha, were held at Sree Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thrissur, on Monday, the first day of the Malayalam month of Karkkidakam. Around 52 elephants participated in this famous event .
Thrissur Thekkinkadu Maidan was packed to capacity and the event resembled a miniature Thrissur Pooram. The only difference was that the elephants had lined up without ornaments for the Aanayoottu.
